The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) earlier today inspected the different fire crackers and fireworks stores at Bocaue, Bulacan. Under the said law the following firecrackers and pyrotechnics are prohibited; watusi, piccolo, mother rockets, Judas belt, Big Bawang, Goodbye Philippines, Bin Laden, Atomic Bomb, Plapla, Five Star, and Giant Bomb. Those stores caught selling these items will be fined with at least P20,000 to 30,000 pesos.

The BFP however is pushing for the total ban as far as the use of these firecrackers or pyrotechnics even if it is legal. ‘We appeal to the public not to use any firecrackers or fireworks, for their own safety they can use an alternative way to celebrate Christmas and New Year, such as horns or cooking pots’ Director Barayuga said. He said that they are fully supporting the advocacy of the Department of Health (DOH) in their campaign not to patronize or use firecrackers or pyrotechnics since it has the same bad effects to the environment and community. He said that for as long as there is the presence of black powder or other chemicals in every fireworks or pyrotechnics that causes it to spark or ignite,
