Two (2) Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Personnel of BFP R10 and a volunteer died while en route to a fire alarm, yesterday at around 01:00 p.m. in Sitio Tapol, Barangay Tomoaong, Davao Oriental.

The victims identified as FO3 Ludivico Ponce, FO1 Arneli Jan Angsingo and Nikko James Curambao was killed onboard the Fire Truck that apparently had a brake malfunction, sending off the vehicle to a fatal accident.

The three victims were among the crew dispatched to respond in a fire scene at the municipality of Manay, Mati City on the same day.

The incident also left four (4) other BFP Personnel injured. SINSP Arthur Joseph Urquiza, SFO2 Jessie Ciurte, FO3 Reynaldo Barrera and FO2 Primo R Jabilles III were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital because of the severity of their injuries.

BFP Officer-in-Charge, Chief Superintendent Ariel A. Barayuga assures that the victims will get a Special Financial Assistance (SFA) of more than P195, 000.00.
On the other hand, Barayuga also said that an automatic salary deduction will be implemented to all BFP Personnel, P100.00 for Non-Officer Ranks and P200.00 for Officer Ranks. The amount will be divided among the victims and will serve as a financial help from the whole BFP to their grieving families.

Undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Atty. Peter Irving Corvera and Barayuga are set to attend the burial of the victims on Monday, March 9, 2015 in Davao City and to personally hand them the said financial assistance.
