Following the Memorandum of Agreement between the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the BFP issued its implementing guidelines through the issuance of the BFP Memorandum Circular No. 2018-006 Implementing Guidelines for The Conduct of Fire Safety Inspection and Issuance of Certificates and Licenses for PEZA-Registered Enterprises dated 22 March 2018. The policy detailed in the provisions in the issuance of various clearances and permits pertinent to the issuance of any license issued by PEZA as well as the enforcement procedures of the fire safety provisions of the Fire Code of the Philippines.
On 13 April 2018, the Directorate for Fire Safety and Enforcement headed by SUPT GILBERT D DOLOT, the acting director called for an orientation and seminar on the implementation of said policy attended by all the Regional Chief Fire Safety Enforcement Division of the BFP as well as the Members of the Central Liaison Unit (CLU) who shall compose the co-located office of the BFP to PEZA Offices.

The CLU is the response of the BFP to the one-stop-shop concept of processing the various applications for licenses and permits to PEZA by local and international locators. The members of the CLU were also given a refresher course on Fire Code Fees Assessment in order to further equip them in the performance of their duties. Following the conduct of the orientation, the BFP field units are now to engage economic zones administered by PEZA. The engagement further solidifies the role of the BFP as the sole enforcing authority of RA 9514 or the Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008.
