The Bureau of Fire Protection – National Headquarters’ personnel are giving their best in showing how physically and mentally prepared they are today, August 4, 2014, 9:00 a.m. when the Sports fest 2014, with the theme,” Pagpapatibay ng Kaisahan at Pagkakasunduan sa Pamamagitan ng Palakasan”, finally opens to them by the BFP Officer-In-Charge, CSUPT. CARLITO S ROMERO at Quezon City Memorial Circle.
The said activity was participated by the different directorates of NHQ including the Command Group. Invocation was led by the BFP Chaplain, CINSP RANDY C BALUSO, CSUPT ARIEL A BARAYUGA, DCA gave his welcome remarks and said that firefighters must possess “sound body and sound mind”.
One of the highlights of the events was the Lighting of Torch led by the team’s leader and followed by the Oath of Sportsmanship by SUPT VERONICA CATALUÑA being the Chairperson of BFP Sports fest 2014.
The occasion was grace by no other than Undersecretary for Operations of Department of Interior and Local Government, Usec. Edwin R. Enrile as the guest of honor and speaker. In his message he said “The purpose of sports fest is to break the monotony of our daily work” and “nurture sports through physical fitness, unity, build teamwork and it is time to sit back and relax from our voluminous work load”.
The said activity is expected that every participant should gain the true essence of unity and cooperation as they exhibit during their daily working routines but also, through sportsmanship.
