Personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection are currently deployed at Shangri-la Hotel in Makati City where the World Economic Forum 2014 for East Asia is being held until Friday.

The BFP, together with other coordinating agencies of the event, is designated to monitor the three-day forum to ensure operational readiness in case of any emergency or untoward incident.

More than 200 BFP personnel and officers are strategically deployed at the venue with five on standby fire trucks, three ambulances and two HAZMAT/ Search and Rescue teams. Part of the preparation is the establishment of incident command post at the BFP-NCR operation center which serves as the venue for the dispatch of information, monitoring of the course of action and coordination with the BFP National Headquarters. BFP personnel were divided into five units: the Firefighting Unit, Special Rescue Unit, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Prevention Inspector/ Investigator and Communication Unit.

The World Economic Forum 2014 for East Asia has brought about 600 delegates from different member countries. President Benigno S Aquino III and several world leaders are expected to attend the event.

The Fire Bureau is gratified given the opportunity to be part of the event to be of service to other people especially to the visitors and contingents of the said forum who came from different part of the world.
