The Department of Education (DepEd) in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) kicked off its annual Brigada Eskwela starting May 18-23, 2015, in preparation for the opening of school year 2015-2016.
This year’s theme: “Tayo Para sa Kalinisan at Kahandaan ng Ating mga Paaralan” calls for the active participation of different government agencies, non-governmental, civic organizations and the likes in promoting a safe school environment for our pupils and students.
The BFP from the higher office down to the local BFP Stations actively participated in the said activity starting last Monday. The BFP conduced fire safety inspections on all building, structures, and facilities of all public elementary, high schools, on educational occupancy, industrial and storage occupancy within school premises.
Also, lectures and drills for all employees, teaching and non-teaching of all elementary and secondary schools with Principal/Administrator certification and organizing of fire brigades were also conducted.
The said activity is a nod to the fire safety advocacies of the BFP to ensure the safety of teachers, pupils and students prior to the opening of classes this June 2015.
According to the records of the BFP in the year 2014 there were a total of 947,414 structural establishments inspected, 20,974 of which were educational occupancies.
