The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), in its mandate to prevent and suppress destructive fires, continues its fire safety awareness advocacy nationwide. Earlier today, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC)-Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) together with the BFP held a tarpaulin posting ceremony of the fire prevention ads in 23 stations of both LRT Line 1 and 2.
Deputy Chief for Operations CSUPT LORENZO S DE GUIA, Directorate for Fire Safety and Prevention OIC SR SUPT IGMEDIO U BONDOC JR, and Chief, Public Information Services SUPT RENATO B MARCIAL personally led the team in putting up the said campaign ads.
The ads contain a deeper and more appealing approach, depicting haunting pictures of the ill effects of destructive fires, with an alarming question “Na-chek mo ba ang bahay bago ka umalis? Iwasan nating mangyari ito, huwag maging biktima!” BFP-NCR hotline is also provided for the convenience of LRT commuters.
“This concept is an attempt to awaken the level of fire safety consciousness of the community and to imprint in their minds the distressing effects and hazards of destructive fires which may claim lives and properties” Marcial said, as he emphasized the new fire safety advocacy design contains graphical images that will serve as an eye opener to the public of the dreadful effects of fires.
The whole LRT caters to about 5 million passengers daily, making it an ideal and efficient avenue for BFP’s fire prevention drive. The agency believes that its partnership with the DOTC-LRTA will create a greater safety consciousness to the public.
