The Bureau of Fire Protection, in its mandate to prevent and suppress destructive fires, continues to disseminate its fire safety awareness campaigns nationwide. Earlier this day, the Department of Transportation and Communications-Light Rail Transit Authority lent its support by allowing the Bureau to post fire safety campaign ads in Cubao Araneta, Anonas, Katipunan, Pureza, V. Mapa and Gilmore LRT Line-2 stations.

Under the leadership of DILG Secretary HON. MAR ROXAS, the Directorate for Fire Safety and Prevention OIC SR SUPT IGMEDIO U BONDOC JR personally led the team in putting up the said campaign ads.

The said ad contains information about the most common causes of fires and how to prevent them. It also contains this year’s theme slogan: “Isulong ang Kaunlaran, Sunog ay Iwasan, Kaalaman at Pag-iingat ang Kailangan.” Phone numbers of the nearest fire stations are also provided for the convenience of LRT commuters.

BFP and LRTA

The whole LRT system caters to about 5 million passengers daily, making it an ideal and efficient avenue for BFP’s fire prevention drive. The agency believes that its partnership with the DOTC-LRTA will create a greater safety consciousness to the public. The posting activity will resume tomorrow at 1:30 in the afternoon, focusing on designated stations of LRT Line-1.

The BFP continues to undertake its various activities in relation to Fire Prevention Month, which will be culminated on the last day of March at BFP National Headquarters, Agham Road, Quezon City.
