At least five hundred personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), plus more than three hundred civilian participants, run for fire safety yesterday, March 9, 2014 in Quezon City. The activity dubbed as “Run for Safety: Takbo Laban sa Sunog” started at 6:00 a.m. and routed from BFP National Headquarters in Agham Road going through East Avenue, Quezon Memorial Circle, North Avenue back to BFP National Headquarters.
Sports enthusiasts and runners from different private organizations, non-government organizations, Volunteer Fire Brigades and other government agencies joined the firefighters in this effort to promote public awareness on fire safety and prevention.
After the fun run, the signing of Memorandum of Agreement was held between BFP and Petron Corporation. The MOA was signed between BFP Directorate for Fire Safety and Prevention Officer-in-Charge SSUPT IGMEDIO U BONDOC and Petron Corporation President Lubin B. Nepomuceno and Assistant Vice President Mary Ann Neri. The said agreement highlights the enjoining of the two parties in the implementation of different fire safety and prevention programs this Fire Prevention Month which include participation of Petron Corporation in Oplan Iwas Sunog Project, Unity Walk, Lakbay Alalay Home Safety Check, Fun Run, and production and dissemination of information materials to support fire prevention campaigns of the Bureau.
SSUPT BONDOC expressed his appreciation to all the participants before the activity concluded.
