His Excellency President Benigno C. Aquino III appointed F/CSUPT ARIEL A. BARAYUGA as the new Chief, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), with the rank of Fire Director last Thursday.
In his letter to Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas dated 20 March 2015, Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr was pleased to transmit the appointment of CSUPT BARAYUGA signed by the President on 19 March 2015.
CSUPT BARAYUGA is the 8th Chief, BFP appointed from the time RA 6975, DILG Act of 1990 was enacted, while all others were appointed as Officer-in-Charge. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Officer-in-Charge of the BFP for almost four months and having been promoted, his rank will now be ‘two-star general’, a position that will give him the full authority to exercise the duties and responsibilities due for a Fire Director.
The new Chief entered the Fire Service on 1988. His leadership career was honed through his various positions and designations handled in the Bureau of Fire Protection. He was assigned in various regions as Regional Director and was given different key positions in the BFP National Headquarters.
CSUPT BARAYUGA’S highest educational attainment is Doctor of Philosophy, Major in Public Administration and has the highest training in Public Safety Officer Executive Course. He is also a Mechanical Engineer by Profession and a holder of Career Executive Officer VI eligibility.
His dedication and commitment to service was recognized through the awards and commendations given to him by the BFP and various organizations that made him the most qualified officer for the position as Fire Director.
CSUPT BARAYUGA will still be serving the Bureau of Fire Protection for more than one year prior to his mandatory retirement on April 2016.
